Rock Bottom

At last, police officers in Castleford (Yorkshire Evening Post 6th Sept) have fined illegal parkers outside a local school. If only police in other areas would take such action. Respect for road traffic law, and the law in general, is at rock bottom. Today I observed 3 motorists driving the wrong way down a one way street, the pedestrianised Queen Street in Morley. I recently saw someone almost knocked over by a car travelling the wrong way up this one way street, the man didn’t need to look behind, because its a one way street. Most days I see motorists driving whilst using their mobile phones. Yesterday Leeds City Council put on display rubbish collected in 24 hours from Leeds city centre. Six tonnes of waste in bags was piled up on a street as part of a campaign by Leeds City Council to encourage people not to drop litter. The council said it spends £8m a year cleaning the city’s roads. Perhaps if they spent more money on catching the people that drop litter, there wouldn’t be so much of it?
